I've been working some long days recently with the idea of getting a half day of windsurfing in. The trouble was calling the day to do it. I'd only get one shot and then it was back to working up another half day. Tuesday looked promising but I thought I'd hold out for today. And what a result.

I left work at 12.00 and was on the road at 13.15. No sign of wind but the forecast was for SW 4/5 so ...

When I got down to Pagham there was little sign of life on the beach but it was already windy enough for plenty of whitecaps so I rigged a 6.5 and got out quickly before it all disappeared. Three and a half hours later I crawled back up the beach (OK I'd had a couple of coffee breaks in between). By now I was feeling a bit overpowered and too tired to deal with it. I'd had a solid session constantly planing. High water was around 18.30 but it was neaps so no hint of shore break.

I'd even had some fun riding the baby waves that break over the shallow patch off the groyne, and some small jumps going out. So all in all an excellent session with no blubbing or walk of shame, sunshine all afternoon, some good gybing (by my standards) and ... well, what more is there?

And only four people out! Mind you it's been a difficult week with a couple of days already that looked better than they really were so it's not surprising if a few people passed on today. And tomorrow looks good and I still have about five hours to my credit.
